AirPlus Virtual Cards are comparable to conventional Mastercard® plastic credit cards – just digital. They have all the features required for payment: a 16-digit Mastercard® number, an expiry date and a card verification number(CVC). To provide even greater security, each card can have restrictions for validity period, limit, currency and purpose.

As a merchant, how can I accept a virtual credit card as a payment method?

The precondition for that is an existing acceptance agreement with Mastercard®.

The charge is made auto- matically via your booking system or by manually entering the virtual credit card number. Please use the card-not-present function on your terminal. As the identity of the person making the booking has already been verified during the card generation process, no further

Where can the virtual credit cards be used?

AirPlus Virtual Cards are used in the same manner as conventional Mastercard® credit cards.

As a merchant, how do I benefit from accepting AirPlus Virtual Cards?

Besides, by accepting virtual credit cards and thus actively promoting corporate customers’ payment process, you increase the customer loyalty to your company.

Virtual credit cards offer corporate customers an alternative to paying by invoice. Compared to invoices, AirPlus Virtual Cards offer a higher level of security and a faster receipt of payment.

How are virtual credit cards authorized?

The only difference between the authorization process for conventional Mastercard® transactions and virtual credit card transactions is that for the latter the credit card number might have to be entered into the terminal manually.

What if a payment is rejected?

If payment is rejected, please verify all the data entered (e.g. credit card number, period of validity, amount). If the payment is still not authorized, even after verifying and re- entering the data, please contact AirPlus’ Customer

As a merchant, how do I receive the payment?

The general Mastercard® conditions apply. For more information, please refer to the contract you entered into with your acquirer or payment service provider.

What do you have to consider at check-in and check-out?

At check-out, the card number authorized at check-in is used again to initiate the financial transaction. Depending on the agreement with the corporate customer, the invoice can be sent directly to the guest 

During check-in, please authorize the amount for the booked services when entering the virtual credit card number.

If a payment authorization form was sent to you during the booking process, all services listed by the corporate customer (e.g. accommodation, meals, taxes) can be billed using the virtual credit card number provided. Services that are not included in the booking (e.g. minibar) must be paid for separately by the traveler.
